With the onset of the pandemic COVID-19 to say life has changed is an understatement. In our communities, we all know someone who has been exposed to the virus or has contracted the illness, mostly survive and few died. How we live, work, think, behave and even breathe is now different. We are living in a new time –one we were not prepared for or even equipped to adequately handle.

As a mom of a nine-year-old my life has become routinely while we are in lockdown. My husband is working from home while my business has to pause due to COVID-19. Watching the news and seeing how this virus has become pandemic, my anxiety level rose up. Being a homemaker keeps me going for the first two months but then I felt like I can do something else and be more productive as an individual. It was then I started to look online on how can I keep myself busy at the same time earn some money while my business not operational, while still I can take care of my family. I found this social media group in Facebook that supports mostly MOMs to learn and earn money while staying at home. I watched their videos online and see if my freelance goal is aligned to them. It turns out, I enrolled to the freelancing course they offer. It’s been almost a month since I started with the offline portfolios and since day one I am excited learning new things.

The COVID-19 has led me to see what is most important. It open my mind that family, inner circle, physical and mental health matters most. To take care of ourselves to take care others. Moreover, learning new things to keep me occupied and focusing with my journey becoming a freelancer has helped me to overcome the negative effect of the pandemic and be the next best version of myself.
